Albion Oak Logo

One of the characteristics of green oak is that as it dries, it shrinks which pulls the mortice and tenon joints making the oak frame a tight fit. This strengthens and adds charm to the building and splits & shakes are an expected part of the beauty and character of the building and do not cause any structural issues.

Hundreds of years if not longer. An oak frame will even last longer in a fire than a steel frame! The oak will get harder as it ages.

Traditional oak framed extensions, insulated to building regulations, will stay warm in the winter and cooler in the summer.

For every tree felled we plant three more ensuring the sustainability of oak framing. Growing trees absorb more CO² than a mature tree thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gases. Timber is the only truly renewable building resource.

We have over thirty years experience of designing and building award winning oak frame buildings.

We can supply to almost anywhere in the world and supply and assemble all over the UK.

We can design buildings to meet permitted development rules. We also provide a full planning service if required.

We recommend using local builders for foundations, roofing, plumbing and electrics as this is usually much more cost effective for the client but we are happy to quote for these elements if required. We can offer turnkey in the midlands and south east.

We supply windows and doors in oak as standard but can supply iroko, softwood or sapeli wood. Other types of timber may be used if you have any particular requirement, please ask and we will advise whether this is possible Most people choose standard sizes but we listen to your individual needs and all of our joinery is tailor made to meet the requirements of each and every individual frame – therefore bespoke sizes are always possible!

We usually supply a 3d drawing and quotation the next day. Once you are happy with the design and price we usually deliver the frame between 6-10 weeks depending on the size of order

We can supply the full timber kit. You will need to be fit, have basic building skills and have access to a small team of helpers. We will deliver pre-cut timbers with all necessary instructions.

We have a huge library of technical details in PDF format. Many can be found on the glossary of oak terminology page. If you have any questions about detailing of oak frames please do not hesitate to contact us.
